Singapore Travel

Visit Singapore and it will provide you with lifelong memories of its high rise modern skyline, great shopping and world class living environment.

Singapore is a bustling cosmopolitan city populated by a melting pot of different cultures and nationalities all living together in perfect harmony in this tropical Southeast Asian country.

The “Republic of Singapore” to give it its official title, is an island city-state located off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, sometimes referred to as the “little red dot”, due to its size, it is depicted as just that on many world maps!, or the “Lion City” although it is most unlikely that lions of any persuasion ever lived here, other than in the Singapore Zoo

Along with so many other countries in this region, it would be very easy to give it a miss! And to many people, they may not even hear about this small island nation which occupies a total land area of just over 700 square kilometers or just 270 square miles!

But to miss out on visiting Singapore, would truly be to miss out on one of the world’s finest travel destinations, a city that may be small in size, but more than compensates for that in friendliness, hospitality and culinary excellence!

The truth is Singapore City is an acclaimed tourist hub bustling with activities and jam packed with plenty to do during your stay. Singapore is sometimes considered to be quite similar to its Asian neighbour Hong Kong, it is from the point of view of being a modern skyscraper city full of great shopping and cultural experiences, but Singapore has a much more relaxed, greener and friendlier feel to it than Hong Kong and is considerably better value!

The cultural diversity of the country, religious and ethnic tolerance, photographic landscape, and cleanliness are compelling reasons why tourists keep coming over and over again to this city.

Singapore offers many beautiful sights and photographic opportunities for the travelers. Begin your journey with a bumboat ride along the Singapore river and admire the old architecture building of yesterday years to the robust skyline and cityscape. The ride will bring you to the icon of Singapore, The Merlion at the mouth of the river and get off at the Esplanade, Theaters on the Bay where you can view seasonal worldclass and local performance. It is a magnificent piece of architecture. The locals call it ‘ Durian’ because it resembles the exterior of the spiky tropical fruit. The fruit durian, has a strong aroma which not everyone will like. Try it… either you will love it or hate it. You will find it along the streets at Bugis Village.

The Singapore Zoo (Former Singapore Zoological Gardens) is acclaimed as one of the world’s most spectacular zoos. The Zoo’s orang utan breeding program has created a large community of these gentle, endangered species.

Fort Siloso is the Singapore’s only preserved coastal fort stands as an important window to our colonial past and a poignant reminder of the war years. When the British colonized Singapore in the 1870s, the new harbour (Keppel Harbor) saw the expansion of activities that risked being rampaged by invaders and pirates. It was decided that a fort would be sited at the western end of a small island called Pulau Blakang Mati (now known as Sentosa), so Fort Siloso, the first of such fortification, was born.
